By far the best reference anyone can hope to find about ants is the following:
- Holldobler, Bert and Wilson, E. O. (1990) The Ants. The Belknap
Press of Harvard University Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts. This
beautiful book costs approximately $75 but is the most thorough and
readable book available. It is often referred to as "the ant bible".
