Arthropod Behavior Inquiry By Eric Renfro

Introduction by Eric Renfro

I have been teaching for 17 years at the same location. I teach in South Central Los Angeles at Washington Preparatory High School. My classroom is designed for frequent group work. I think it is important for student development to communicate with others. This obviously requires monitoring. Standards and rubrics are common within the classroom. Standards are mandated statewide and nationally. Students, with teacher guidance, develop rubrics. Students evaluate each other using the rubrics. The teacher uses the same rubrics to evaluate students. Evaluation is an important tool for understanding and reinforcement.
The neurology lessons and behavior lesson were developed for group-structured classrooms. The information in these lessons provides varied details. Obviously, this invites further development of the lessons that I have shared. Some teachers find that group activity is not possible because of classroom dynamics. Again, modification may be the protocol for the varied styles of other teachers.
