Drosophila Melanogaster

By Pete Geiger

Introduction to the Unit

I have attempted to take the mystique out of using Drosophila in the classroom. Therefore, it is important to read the initial information "An Introduction to Drosophila Melanogaster to familiarize yourself with alternative strategies to employ for your class. In addition, the reference page is full of information, most of it on the internet, to help make those choices easier. Finally, there is an appendix of pictures. Use these and refer back to them when needed. Allow students access to these- it will help them understand this small, fascinating creature.

Look for links throughout the web page. These will direct you to pictures or web sites to find additional information.
