B12/Folate Problem set

In this problem set, you will learn
   a) which biological reactions require either B12 or folate (or both);
   b) the consequences of a deficiency in either vitamin, and
   c) the important step in which B12 and folate metabolism overlap.

Introduction

Instructions: The following problems have multiple choice answers. Correct answers are reinforced with a brief explanation. Incorrect answers are linked to tutorials to help solve the problem.
  1. "Folate trapping" in a vitamin B12 deficiency
  2. A reaction that uses both folate and B12
  3. Effect of folate-B12 disruptions on neural membranes
  4. A second reaction requiring B12
  5. Folate in the synthesis of DNA
  6. Folate in the synthesis of dTMP
  7. Folate reduction and recycling
  8. B12 deficiency
